What it does

Small tools for the hard moments

Simple, private and built around your own plan.

Your own plan

Tell Daylight what you used to lose each week, your goals, what you played for, your riskiest hours and when payday lands — and add a buddy you trust. Your answers stay on your phone.

Slips, without shame

Log a slip with an optional note, look back at your own patterns and keep going. Short lessons and quick wellbeing check-ins work at your pace.

Venue Radar

See pokies-free places. Turn on Watch for me and Daylight can notice when you're within about 150 m of a venue with gaming machines and send a gentle local notification. VIC and NSW for now.

Payday Shield

Get ready for payday with Payday Shield and a split-pay helper. Your ticks stay on your phone, and bank details you type into the helper are never stored.

Joy, not just “no”

Plan things you actually enjoy, and tip yourself instead of the machine.

You're not alone

An optional, anonymous community: see how many people are riding out a wave right now, send a preset word of encouragement and share a win. Sharing is off unless you turn it on. No names, no free text.

FAQ

Questions people ask

I'm not safe right now. What should I do? +
Please call 000 if you or someone else is in immediate danger. You can also call Lifeline on 13 11 14 or text 0477 13 11 14, or the Suicide Call Back Service on 1300 659 467. Is Daylight free? +
Yes. Daylight is free, with no ads and no in-app purchases, and there's no account to create.
When can I get Daylight, and who is it for? +
Daylight is coming soon to the App Store for iPhone. It is made for adults (18+) in Australia who want to stop playing pokies. This page will link to the App Store as soon as it's live.
Is my data uploaded? +
No. Your profile, slip log and notes, tips, joy plans, wellbeing check answers, lesson progress and Payday Shield ticks are stored only on your phone, inside the app. Bank details you type into the split-pay helper are never stored at all. Your location never leaves your phone. Daylight only sends a few small, anonymous community events if you turn on community sharing — see "What does the community share?" below and our privacy policy.
How does venue watching work, and how do I turn it off? +
Venue Radar uses your location on your phone to show pokies-free places. If you turn on Watch for me and allow “Always” location, Daylight uses iOS region monitoring to notice when you're within about 150 m of a venue with gaming machines, and shows a local notification. Your location never leaves your phone — Daylight has no server that receives it. To turn it off, go to Radar › Watch for me in the app, or iOS Settings › Daylight › Location.
Why does Daylight ask for “Always” location? +
Only for Watch for me. It relies on iOS region monitoring, which can only alert you near a venue while Daylight is closed if location access is set to “Always”. The check happens on your phone and your location is never sent anywhere. You can change this at any time in iOS Settings › Daylight › Location.
Does it work in my state? +
Daylight is for people anywhere in Australia, but its venue data so far covers Victoria and New South Wales, so Venue Radar and Watch for me only know about venues in those two states for now. Venue data: © State of New South Wales (Liquor & Gaming NSW) and © State of Victoria (Victorian Gambling and Casino Control Commission; Liquor Control Victoria), both licensed under CC BY 4.0.
How do I reset everything? +
Go to Pot › Start over. This clears everything Daylight has stored on your phone and creates a new anonymous install ID, so any community events you shared earlier can no longer be linked to you; they expire from the community server within 120 days. Deleting the app also removes its data from your phone.
What does the community share? +
Only what you choose to share. Community sharing is off unless you turn it on: Daylight asks once at the end of setup, and you can switch it on or off any time in People. When it's off, Daylight sends nothing about you — it only downloads the public totals and shared wins, with no install ID attached. When it's on, Daylight sends small, anonymous events tagged with a random install ID made on your phone (not linked to your name, email, Apple ID or advertising ID): a wave you surfed, with your own estimated average session amount in whole dollars (capped at $2,000); a kept day; an “in a wave now” status for 15 minutes; preset encouragements you send to another anonymous person (deleted from the server about 30 minutes later); preset win tags with your days rounded into bands (7/14/30/60/90/180/365+); cheers; and your state (VIC, NSW or Other) worked out from your home postcode. There are no names, emails, free text or precise location. The server keeps no request logs and we don't store IP addresses; community rows are deleted after 120 days. To stop sharing, turn it off in People. Details are in the privacy policy.
Is Daylight medical advice or treatment? +
No. Daylight is not medical advice and not a treatment service, and it doesn't replace a doctor, a counsellor or Gambling Help. If things are hard, please reach out to one of the services listed on this page.
